OSHA UPDATE

OSHA CHANGES COULD BE COSTLY TO EMPLOYERS

OSHA is in the process of increasing enforcement activity and fines.  OSHA has hired 150 new Compliance Officers in 2009 and has increased the number of inspections and the number of citations issued to 87,000 in 2009 and at the current pace that number will exceed 100,000 in 2010.

Therapeutic Riding Institute, Inc. Business Open House

The Chambers second visit to the Therapeutic Riding Institute, Tuesday evening was once again “spirit lifting” and inspiring.

TRI as it is known to their volunteer’s folks showed up in force at beautiful Beachwood Farm on Clyo Road.  We were very privileged to observe the lessons of 7 students during their 3 weekly classes plus the schooling of a new horse that is being considered for this very special job.

The commentary of Director and teacher-coach and parents was fascinating.

It was a breezy, evening full of fun and joy and renewal for many of us!

THANKS YOU TRI….

PHANTOM SCREENS AND GRAPES OPEN HOUSE

We would like to say thank you to Gayle for hosting the Chambers latest Open House. It was fascinating to see the variety that Phantom Screens has to turn most any outdoor space into a fantastic screened in room. Grapes above the Centerville Pub provided a quaint and cozy space to relax and savor the specially selected wines and to network with other members. The paring of specialty cheeses enhanced the enjoyment and the dark chocolate for wine was a real treat. Again thank you to Phantom Screens and Grapes for a great event.

Sycamore Medical Center Open House

Thank you to Sycamore for hosting the latest Chamber Open House. The lobby was a perfect place for the event. The activity in the lobby added to the entire experience. We would like to express a special thank you to Michael Smith the new President of the Medical Center and Chamber Board of Directors, who graciously took time out of his busy schedule to personally great each guest. We were treated to a great continental breakfast and tours of several of the Centers Departments. One of the most impressive was the Sleep Diagnostic Center. This department features large bedrooms for the patients and each has its own spacious private bath. We would also like to thank Kathy Keys for coordinating the event and arranging for the tours. It was a great event and was enjoyed by all who attended.
