Greater Dayton Conference on Youth
The Seventh Annual Greater Dayton Conference on Youth will be held Tuesday, September 25 and Wednesday, September 26. This annual conference is focused on the 40 developmental Assets. The Assets were identified by the Search Institute as strengths necessary for the healthy development of today’s youth. The more assets kids and teenagers have, the more likely they are to thrive and engage in positive behaviors.
September 25 is dedicated to the youth. Obediah Thomas is the keynote speaker and will engage youth about asset building and public speaking. During this session students will realize and discover the importance of asset building and be ready to showcase this to the younger generation. Youth will attend 5 round robin sessions covering: internal and external assets, leadership, restraint and service. By the end of the day, each youth will bring home a variety of service projects they can complete in their community.
September 26 is adult focused. Clay Roberts keynoted our first GDCOY and is returning to keynote the seventh. Curtis Zimmerman will also be returning to close the conference. Breakout sessions throughout the day will connect adults to the different assets and how they can incorporate them into their work or community. There is the opportunity to network with other professionals and learn what others are doing in their field to move forward and spread the positivity of the 40 developmental assets.
